We have discovered an e-Bay scam that all audiophiles should be aware of. A customer of ours brought in a van den Hul Mainsstream Hybrid powercord that he purchased at an e-Bay auction from a vendor reported to be L.A. based.

The cable is a very unusual pale grass green color and includes fake Wattgate labeled plugs. The cable is very flexible, unlike the genuine article. The Canadian distributor for v. d. Hul has examined the cable, at our request, and pronounced it to be a fraud.

The printing on the cable looks very real! Like all frauds, the material content of this cable is substandard to say the least! However, the interior layout of the cable mimics the genuine article, suggesting that this fake is professionally built, not one of amateur creation. We have discovered that apparently identical fakes have popped up in Europe this summer. The performance detriment and obvious safety issues that this fake represents can not be overstated.
